In May of 2014, the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) approved changes to the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) convention implementing requirements for mandatory container weight verification.  Prior to loading the container onto a vessel, the shipper must provide the verified weight of the packed container on all documentation regarding the shipment.
